Past Week's Goals
- get part of my first Crazy Eight idea done
- finish reading Ten Arguments for Deleting Your Social Media Accounts Right Now
- provide value by tweeting/replying at least once per day
I got a bit overwhelmed by the scope of my first project and scoped it down drastically, postponed it to a later cycle and pulled out a simpler idea to work on. I already built around 1/4 of it, most of it Thursday night.
I finished reading Ten Arguments for Deleting Your Social Media Accounts Right Now on Wednesday. I don't have a Facebook/Instagram account, use WhatsApp & other messengers only irregularly, and I didn't delete Twitter. However, I changed my feed settings from most relevant to latest, in order to prevent Twitter from hiding "less relevant" content from me.
Whether I successfully reached my goal of "providing value" on a daily basis on Twitter is for others to decide, but regularly checking in on Twitter is becoming a habit. Mostly I check the feed for a few minutes 2-3 times per day. Usually when I also check my other inbound channels, like email and push notifications (which I have on do-not-disturb 24/7).
People & Wins
This past week I engaged with a few people via Twitter DM. I actually like the more personal touch and longer messages. We talked about software development, goals, how to get started with marketing, tips on how to best approach a challenge like build/launch X projects in a year, and lots of other topics.
One thing I realized due to these conversations is that I should have probably aimed a little bit lower in my yearly goal of launching eight projects. My initial thinking was that 12 is too many, and 8 will be a great number. Now, however, I think aiming for 6 would have been better. But, for now, I'll stick with my plan and reflect on it after I've launched my first project in March.
One thing I want to celebrate: Felix Scholz launched ThreadStart on ProductHunt and made it to Product of the Day. Congratulations!
Goals for Next Week
- finish the core use case of my first project
- go for a 30 minutes walk every day
- check in on Twitter twice per day - no more, no less
