Week in Review

January 24-30, 2022

Past Week's Goals

  • publish one side hustle thought-of-the-day tweet per day
  • decide on idea #1 for c8c
  • continue my streak of preparing all my meals instead going to the restaurant

Long story short: I was able to complete all three goals.

While deciding on an idea to tackle in the first cycle of my Crazy Eight Challenge, working on my daily tweets was very helpful. As I set the goal of tweeting a side hustling thought-of-the-day everyday of the last week I really had to think about what, in my opinion, makes for a successful little project. I'll start work on my first project next week.

Here are all seven visualization I tweeted:

With the right kind of effort some ideas can be turned into money.
What you build has a much higher impact than what you say.
The profit equation helps you decide whether you should drop an idea or go for it.
Marketing has a higher impact than building. Build it and they will come is a myth.
Products improve through iteration. Iterating is only possible after launch. All "iterating" before launch is just guessing.
Success does not happen overnight. It is the result of consistently putting in the necessary work for a very long time. Perseverance is key.
Your side-hustle/startup/project might fail but you won't! You will learn so much along the way that failure will still feel like success.

For those interested, I use Excalidraw to create these visualizations.

My third goal was to continue preparing all my meals instead of going to the restaurant. I did prepare all my meals during the week but had a little cheat day on Saturday when my partner and I had our date night. We spent the afternoon in the mountains enjoying the sun and the snow and ended the day with a nice dinner in a small restaurant.

People & Wins

Jakob Greenfeld made it to Pocket's Recommendations page with his post about personal productivity. Congrats on getting featured by Pocket, Jakob!

Felix Scholz released a new major version of the editor powering his product ThreadStart. Right now I enjoy doing Twitter stuff manually but I'll have a look at the tool for sure in the upcoming weeks/months once I've made myself familiar with "bare Twitter".

Arvid Kahl recorded 4.5 hours of raw video for his upcoming Twitter course "Find your Following". The course will launch tomorrow. I find Arvid's output very impressive. Not only did he write the book Zero to Sold, he also has a podcast (which I regularly listen to on my commute) and is so helpful on Twitter - and that's only the stuff I know about. I'm thankful for people like Arvid who make the community great.

Goals for Next Week

  • I've scoped my first Crazy Eight Challenge idea into a few parts. My goal is to get the first part built next week.
  • I will finish reading Ten Arguments for Deleting Your Social Media Accounts Right Now.
  • Provide value by tweeting/replying at least once per day.
